Dialectical materialism gave out the definition: QUALITY is the combination of basic characteristics and attributes of things, phenomena, is what makes this thing and/or phenomenon different from other things and/or phenomena.
To explain the change in QUALITY, there is the rule of QUANTITY VS QUALITY describing the conversion from QUANTITY changes into QUALITY changes. Understanding and utilizing the said basis rule of dialectical materialism are critically meaningful to perceptive activities and actual activities. Nevertheless, in fact, the two categories QUANTITY and QUALITY are rather abstractive and confusing; most of time, it’s so difficult to determine a point of QUANTITY change enough to cause a point of QUALITY change; or sometimes, it’s also hard to determine if any QUALITY changes in some things and/or phenomena are caused by any QUANTITY changes. Thus, it’s required to continue researches clarifying causes and conditions of QUALITY changes in things and phenomena. To solve this issue, let’s study some following fields in life:
In atomic physics: chemical element is the basic element with atomic nuclear electron unchanged in chemical reactions, creating single elements or compounds. Nuclear is the smallest component of a chemical element. The structure of every nuclear of chemical elements is formed by 3 fundamental particles including neutron, proton and electron. Therefore, theoretically, upon the availability of the said fundamental particles, it’s completely possible to create all elements, nuclear, molecules, compounds; in other words, it’s possible to create QUALITY of things. From then on, it’s possible to consider that: things with same quantity of neutrons, protons and electrons (same quantity) but with different organization of fundamental particles (different atoms and molecules) will surely create things completely different from one another in QUALITY such as: a waste block, a gold block, or more marvelously the possibility to create a man who can act and think,… Typical examples: from the same carbon atom but different structures (of crystals) will create 2 kinds of products as lead coal or diamond with absolute difference in QUALITY. In informatics field: only a change of command line in a software program (without any increase or decrease in computer weight) can change the computer compatibility. In sociological field, we can also see through the development of human society, a closely-organized society (with states, governments…) could have quality clearly better than others with bad organizations, bad governments. Also, the reason why this society is better than others, this nation is stronger and more civilized than others is due to the different organizations. In economic field, in case of the same country, changes in organization and structure, production regime of its economy can turn it from not having enough food into a food-export country (like Vietnam). In politic field, a regime, a class, or a party once being closely and optimally organized inside from guidelines, structures, regulations, management, operation,… will become an advanced, strong, firm and effective regime, class, or party. In army field, a troop with good organization, close discipline, high fighting spirit, good training, and proper fighting tactics will completely be able to win a troop with much bigger scale but with bad fighting organization. In business field, an enterprise without any increase in capital, technology… but with reorganization of some issues including adjustment of goods structure, or rearrangement of staff, or adjustment of working regime and income policy… can gain clear change in business efficiency. In music field, with only 7 musical notes, a talent musician could create a music peace moving people hearts for centuries; and in contrast. And in sports field, the same football team with different coaches and different organizations through time could show different qualities and achievements. A series of the said actual and popular examples brings us to a conclusion:
“Without doubt, the category ORGANIZATION of elements and factors structuring things and phenomena is one of the leading factors which can change QUALITY of things and phenomena. Moreover, the relationship between ORGANIZATION and QUALITY requests for a role of regularity: Regularity of ORGANIZATION and QUALITY, in which, the category ORGANIZATION must be understood as: increase, decrease (“of quantity”); arrangement; structuring; composition; systematic feature; management and coordination; mutual relation and impact… of elements, factors structuring things and phenomena.”
The determination of this rule, or the appreciation of the factor ORGANIZATION of elements, factors structuring things and phenomena which can lead to changes in QUALITY, will have huge effects, being the guideline for perception activities and actual activities of human. Specifically, having grasped and clearly understood the relation of the categories ORGANIZATION and QUALITY: scientists can be self-confident and infinite in researching, creating, inventing new things and phenomena; managers and entrepreneurs can believe in efficiency of their organization, restructuring of economy or businesses when necessary, and can minimize their dependence in factors like materials, capital,…. Thus, we can utilize the famous saying of President Ho Chi Minh to confirm:
ORGANIZATION, ORGANIZATION, GOOD ORGANIZATION
SUCCESS, SUCCESS, GREAT SUCCESS
